The "Can Spam" Act

Here are the text and .pdf versions of the act.

The so called "Can Spam" act is a noble effort to curb the spread of spam within the United States. While many spammers have been convicted under the law, there seems to be no let up from the spam scourge. The problem is that, in addition to domestic scoff-laws, there are thousands upon thousands of spammers doing business throughout the rest of the world. What can be done?

The internet is a borderless world. There is virtually no difference between email originating from the US and email sent from Ukraine. Governmental efforts to curb spam, while encouraged, are futile. Spammers adapt to anti-spam efforts on a daily basis. Email service providers have the technology and expertise to counter this problem. It is up to you to pressure them with your pocket book to seriously address the spam problem.
