Create New Message:This button opens the SurfBuddies Mail message creation window. From there the child can specify the receipients, the subject and enter the text of the message.
The message editor allows the creation of colorful messages with many fonts to choose from as well as insert pictures, background colors, background images and paragraph formatting. Of course, if a child chooses not to use any of these features, all they have to do is type in their message.
Open Selected Message:This button opens the selected message in a new window.
The window contains the address information, the subject line and the body of the message. If the message has been formatted it will be displayed as the sender intended including imbedded pictures, fonts, colors and other special features.
Cut:This is the standard edit Cut selected text function.
Copy:This is the standard edit Copy selected text function.
Paste:This is the standard edit Paste selected text function.
Print:This sends the current message to the printer.
Check For New Mail:
This checks the child's email server for new mail.
If mail is recieved from a sender in the child's Buddy List, the mail is stored in the InBox folder.
If the mail is from a sender not in the Buddy List, it is stored in the Not Buddies folder for review by a parent.
Reply To Sender:This opens the selected message for editing and fills the TO: address field with the name of the person who originally sent the message.
Reply To All:This opens the selected message for editing and fills the TO: and CC: address fields with the names of everyone in the address list of the original message.
Forward Message:This opens the selected message for editing and clears the address fields.
Use it for sending a copy of an email to a new person.
Send Message:This sends the contents of the Outbox. If the child is editing a message, it sends that message as well.
Delete Selected Message(s):This Deletes the currently selected message or messages from the current folder. This function may be used while viewing the contents of any folder.
View Buddy List:Use this to view the child's buddy list.
Read Message Out Loud:Use this to make the Microsoft Agent Character read the selected message out loud.
Stop Reading Out Loud:Use this to make the Microsoft Agent Character stop reading the message out loud.
Contextual Help:Use this to get help from the SurfBuddies Mail help system.
Child's InBox Folder:The InBox contains the email messages the child has recieved.
The Message List Pane lists the messages in this folder.
Child's OutBox Folder:The OutBox contains any email messages the child has created but has not yet sent.
The Message List Pane lists the messages in this folder. The list shows to whom each message is addressed, the subject and the date and time the message was created.
Child's Sent Email Folder:This folder contains copies of all email messages the child has successfully sent.
The Message List Pane lists the messages in this folder. The list shows to whom each message was sent, the subject and the date and time the message was sent.
Not Buddies Folder:This folder contains any email messages the child has recieved from people who are NOT in the child's Buddy List. Messages are kept in this folder for 30 days and then permanently deleted.
The Message List Pane lists the messages in this folder. The message list shows the email address of the sender and the date and time the message was recieved. NOTE: the actual message text may not be viewed by the child, a parent may view the text after entering the parent password.
The parent may add the sender to the child's Buddy List after entering the parent password. Message may be deleted at any time.
Message Preview Pane:The Message Preview Pane displays the body of the email message currently selected in the Message List Pane.
The display fully supports HTML formatting as well as text from buddies who can only send plain text.
Message List Pane:The Message List Pane displays the 'envelopes' of all of the email messages contained in the folder selected in the Mail Box Pane.
Mail Box Pane:The Mail Box Pane contains the SurfBuddies Mail mail box folders.
